The Island Vinyl Crate is a simple exploration of material, function, and cultural heritage. Constructed from two pieces of poplar wood connected by four aluminum rods, its minimal design draws inspiration from the islands of the Caribbean.
The piece pays homage to the Caribbean’s profound influence on music and the role vinyl records played in carrying sound across borders. From the movement of records between islands to the emergence of new genres and sounds, vinyl helped shape a culture of musical exchange, experimentation, and innovation that continues to influence the world.
Rooted in the belief that good design should be simple, accessible, and soulful, the Island Vinyl Crate uses familiar materials and straightforward construction to create a functional object with cultural significance.
Available in natural raw poplar or a Yakisugi-inspired charred wood finish, which enhances the wood's surface and brings out its natural character.
The Island Vinyl Crate is a tribute to Caribbean creativity, resourcefulness, and the enduring power of music.
